Wod, Motivation by an Old Frenemy & Photo Diet

First Things First, Today's Wod:

I loved this wod. It was CHALLENGING!
I did the rx 95 lbs cleans... It definitely held me back from getting a score with higher reps... But I felt AWESOME actually being able to do the "rx" version of a workout!

Secondly,
Have you ever had a friend whom you loved dearly...but also felt like there was some sort of unspoken, secret competition going on between the two of you?

Well I have had a few of those friends before in my life!

Last night I was cruising around on instagram, and saw that one of my old friends (frenemy) was now doing Crossfit and eating Paleo!!!

If it was any old friend of mine, I would have been SO happy for them.

And I AM happy for her....

But what REALLY happened was I jumped off my lazy butt, did a late night meal prep for the week:

See! All filled with steamed veggies, sliced fruit, washed spinach and chicken!

Then when I woke up this morning I ate my usual scrambled eggs, but WITH brocolli... AND NO CHEESE!

I love cheese, so that was quite the accomplishment for me.

Then for lunch I had a spinach and chicken salad with some new no sugar added organic dressing from sprouts:

Snacked on an Apple.....

And ate a healthy dinner at the boyfriends house after my wod:

With a dessert of Pineapple, while I watched the newest episode of- The Following!

Who knew that my motivation would return with a vengeance, just from seeing one of my old frenemies from high-school decided to jump on the healthy train?

Do you have any Frenemies?

A little competition never hurt anyone....

I Realized I joined a Cult...and I LIKED it

Jeff and I after the Barbells for Boobs event! He finished Grace in 2 min 53 seconds!

Grace is:
30 Clean & Jerks for time
(135 lbs)

Here is his video!!
(ignore the high pitched screaming voice, that's me cheering him on obnoxiously!)

While amongst many other CrossFitters of all stages of fitness, I realized something...

 I joined a cult...and I liked it.

I didn't track my food for the day because I did not even eat ANY real meals until dinner.
Can you say poor meal planning?

The RUDEST thing happened to me.

A girl in my math class needed help with her hw, and made plans with me to meet at a local Starbucks to go over the hw together.

I went at the designated time, and she NEVER showed up.

I've NEVER been "stood up" before and let me tell you, it does NOT feel good.

I texted her (about 20 mins after the designated time) and asked if we were still meeting, after a while I realized I was not getting a response, and I left.

So when she texted me 2 hours later and asked if we could meet tomorrow morning instead, I told her I had plans.

Am I in the wrong? I feel bad that she needs help, but I am having a hard time FORGIVING someone I waited 1 hour for, in a Starbucks, by myself, while drinking this sugary/fattening drink to cheer myself up:

What would you have done?

Here are some more pics from the event...

I hope by NEXT YEAR when Barbells for Boobs does its annual CF event in AZ, I will be COMPETING too!!!!!

Right after he finished... isn't he cute??

Tips to be Healthy in College

I recently shared one of my grocery lists with you:

This is just one of the steps/planning methods I am going to use while in school to stay ON TRACK!
Not everyone reading this may be in college, but everyone knows what it's like to be in a HURRY!

Sometimes, I think the biggest challenge I face is when I am not prepared, HUNGRY and have to buy somthing out of a vending machine.

While I have not done that in the past eight weeks, I have also been on Summer Vacation.

Being hungry at school or at work with no snacks or if I had no time to pack/eat lunch is the WORST!

I used to be NOTORIOUS for just saying "whatevs"
and buying poptarts for lunch from a vending machine.

Obviously if I want to continue this journey towards a HEALTHY, LONG LIFE

I can't do that anymore.

So here are some of the tips I have (for myself) and anyone else who finds them beneficial:

Buy Non-Perishable Healthy Snacks Ahead of Time...Lots of them.

Then store them!

Pre-Portion ALL your snacks Ahead of Time!
(To avoid over snacking)

My Cute Little, Tiny Paleo Pantry
In the bags I have portioned out dried apples, dark chocolate, nuts, & dried bananas that should last me a WHILE!!

I even bought those sweet potatoes that are washed & you microwave them in the plastic for SPEED

(These are also the PERFECT snacks for me to eat in class/at work)

Even the stuff in my fridge is portioned...
Yogurt, cheese sticks, carrots in baggies ect....

I am PREPARED!

Bring it ON college!

Now... when will I workout?!

Well, I deemed this my New Motto, and YES it's going up on my black-board:

We'll see how this semester goes!

Weekly Weigh-in LOST 1 Pound!!!

Every Sunday I weigh myself and take new progress pictures.

Last Sunday I maintained weight after my trip to Disneyland and a cheat date with the Boyfriend.

This week I pushed myself hard in my workouts and ate very well, I am SO HAPPY to have weighed in at 152!

I have lost 5 pounds in 8 weeks!
(that's healthy weightloss for ya, slow and steady wins the race)
Here is my beggining picture:
I wish I took my measurements, because even though I am losing weight at a slow pace, It looks like I may have lost some inches??

School starts on tomorrow and I am so freaked out! I have had TONS of time this Summer to workout and now everyday I will have to go straight from school to work until 6 p.m.....

So I am going to try and get ahead today!

First I will go out grocery shopping for these things:
Then I am going to cook ALL the chicken, as well as per-portion out all of the dark chocolate, nuts, & carrots...

I'm hoping this will help keep me in check this week!

Wish me luck!

50 Best Excercises for Lower Abs

Don't we all wish we looked like this lady?!

For some people, the action of looking at this picture above is motivation enough to get started on a healthy lifestyle change.

For me, looking at pictures of in shape women was not enough.

My first plan of action was GROCERY shopping and meal planning.

I know what ya'll are thinking, BORING.

But I believe that the key to success is plannign out your meals for the week and having EVERYTHING ready, so there is no room for mistakes!!
