Workout & What I ate Today!

My gym has switched to doing a strength routine every Monday, which I LOVE!

Sometimes its nice to go into CrossFit and instead of doing everything as fast as you can (for time), be able to lift heavy stuff around and rest in between!

You can start at any weight you want, but you are "scored" by he heaviest set of 3 you finish (your fifth set)

For my squats I was able to hit 125 lbs

Press 70 lbs

and Deadlift 205 lbs!

I love the feeling of knowing I can lift heavy weights! Every time I try I get better!

ALSO this is so exciting:

At my gym I made it in the top 5 for Press & Deadlift!

That has only ever happened to me once before! So exciting!

For Breakfast I participated in the Green Smoothie Challenge going on HERE!

Lunch: Cashew, Chicken & Cauliflower Salad!

Snack (unpictured) Sweet Potato drizzled in honey!

Dinner: BRUSSELS SPROUT SLAW! So delicious  I saw something similar to this on Pinterest and knew I had to try it! Who knew you could chop up Brussels sprout like lettuce!
Mine is tossed in a Strawberry Vinaigrette with chicken, chopped strawberries, chopped almonds, red onions & feta cheese!

Best Part of the Day:
Had an AWESOME graph today!

I hope in 5 weeks I could REALLY weigh 132 lbs!!!

Hope ya'll had a great day!

Weekly Goals!

It's been awhile since I have posted GOALS for the week, so I decided it would be a good way to motivate myself for the week!

Lately, I have been only getting to the gym 3-4 times a week!

Let me tell you something... CrossFit is EXPENSIVE!

Not only for my benefit, but to get all my monies worth I need to get my butt in the gym more!

Some of my favorite blogs are hosting a green smoothie challenge this week!
You can read about it and join HERE!

This may seem like a silly fitness goal, but last week I was so TIRED everyday!!!

I realized I was NOT getting enough sleep and it was bringing my whole day down!

I will be sharing this post on:

The Fun(nier) Side of Weightloss!

You Try to be one of those cool people who takes selfies for their blogs, but end up looking INCREDIBLY Awkward, Because:

Clothes start to be FUN to try on and buy!

My closet right now...
Ever since I've dropped the 19 lbs I've had so many more options & I find ALLOT more that fits me at stores! Last year at this time I was getting ANXIETY realizing I could only wear sweatpants all summer...

When your being lazy and napping in the middle of the day, you look down and get to think "Hey! when I lay down my stomach is really flat!"
(It also boosts your self esteem if you do this while wearing pajama shorts that are way tooo big!)

Your arms slowly start to look more muscly and sculpted and a little less flabby. (still working on it).
(I'm probably the only one who really see's a difference in my arms!)

When your supposed to be working (or doing hw) you instead find yourself obsessing over pinterest, weightloss recipes, workouts, and pinning from other fitness/weightloss bloggers so you guys can be bff's.....

(Follow me on Pinterest HERE?)

Now if you'll excuse me, I guess I have to get back to my homework!

First Time Trying a Powerlifting Class & Photo Diet!

Today I tried something NEW at my CrossFit gym!

As I still consider myself a "newbie" at the gym, I have been very hesitant to branch out of my my comfort zone and attend a class that wasn't a crossfit class!

You see, my gym is a "CrossFit" gym, but actually offers a veriety of classes!

Some of these classes are:
Power Lifting
Olympic Powerlifting
Kettle Bell Club
Running Club
CrossFit
Strongman
Mobility
Romanian Conditioning/Boxing

I have only tried a few of the classes on the list, so I decided to be brave tonight and try something new!

I attended a power lifting class!

Basically there are 3 lifts to Powerlifting:
Bench Press
Squat
Deadlift

So I decided to work on bench press, and WOAAH did I learn there is allllot more to a bench press than actually just pressing the bar up and down!

The class was allot different than I expected, for most of the class I just worked technique with a pvc pipe!

Even though I did not "feel the burn" or get a great workout in, I DEFINITLEY am more prepared for the next time bench press is programmed into a daily wod!

If you have never benched before, or been to afraid to try at the gym, here is a helpful video with tips on how to bench properly!

Photo Diet:
I was SO happy to get back to eating my normal food today!!

Breakfast: Juiced these delicious fruits & veggies! (so much better than pancakes)

Lunch: Cashew Chicken & Spinach Salad!

Snack: (unpictured) Sweet Potato Drizzled w/ Honey

Dinner: Yc's Mongolion Grill Chicken Stir Fry with Veggies!

I felt SO much better about what I ate today than yesterday!

I think I have really begun to enjoy feeling control over what I am eating.. The food doesn't control you, YOU control the food!

This is a great breakdown for carb/fat & protein intake for me! I usually aim for my graph to be very equal or higher in fat/protein content!

Now the best part:
This is just a rough estimation, but if everyday were like today I would be about 5-7 lbs lighter in 5 weeks!

What classes do you usually take at the gym?

Do you lift weights at the gym?

Cheat Day - Eww.

Well, my first cheat in 30 days went allot different than I thought it would..

For starters, I found myself NOT WANTING the food I ate. All day.

I had to convince myself to eat it, that I would have regrets if I didn't...

Honestly after doing this cheat day, I have decided I won't be doing it again until I go on vacation in June!

All day I have felt disgusting and sick!

Here is what I ate:

 Breakfast: two pancakes

Lunch: I only ate two of the giant onion rings & about 1/3 of the hamburger & most of the shake. The Hamburger and onion rings were so unapetizing to me I was shocked!

Deep dish Pizza from my favorite pizza place!

Here is the best part...

I tracked EVERYTHING I ate on My-fitness pal app, and If I ate like I did today EVERYDAY, I would gain 30 pounds in 5 weeks...

THAT MEANS THAT IN ABOUT A MONTH I COULD GAIN BACK THE WEIGHT IT TOOK ME TEN MONTHS TO LOSE!

I thought allot after seeing that about how so many people who know little about nutrition may eat the way I did today on a normal day, and how easy it could be to gain back weight if you lose sight of your goals.

I wanted today to be a day where I got to feast on forbidden foods.

Instead all I could do all day was think about the harm the food I was eating would do to my body!

I have learned a valuable lesson today, and that lesson is that

I have changed.

I don't crave sugary and fried foods anymore

I didn't get a "good feeling" from these foods.

I've grown to prefer gluten free & fresh options

In fact, I might as well start telling people I'm gluten free!!!!

I can't predict the future, but I can tell you that I WILL NOT be participating in a planned cheat day like this again.

Now if you will excuse me, I have a terrible stomach ache and headache to tend to - (yes, you guessed it - caused by the food I ate today)

Last Day of My 30 Day Challenge & Wod!

Tonight I am a little sad as I write that it is the last day of my 30 day challenge!

Over the course of this challenge, I feel like I have a new understanding of my body.

Is that weird?

Eating SO strict/clean has changed the way I taste..

It changed the way I THINK,

It changed the way I feel!

Never have I felt this good, and been this DETERMINED!

My mom even pointed out to me, that in my whole life she has never seen me this dedicated or shown such willpower!

I feel so sad that it's over!

I also am a little nervous for a day of cheats!!

Here is what I ate today:

Juice from Carrots, Spinach, Celery, Oranges, Apples & Strawberries!
I love the layers of juice before it is stirred!

Snack: Cashew halves & two chunks 85% dark chocolate

Lunch: Chopped Spinach Salad with Chicken & Half a Sweet Potato

Dinner: Meatballs, Brussel Sprouts & Asparagus cooked with Bacon!

Tomorrow, I am determined to eat whatever I want for the day, so I will have NO regrets for my next 30 days!!!

Workout:

Today the most EXCITING thing happened to me at CrossFit....

I GOT FOURTH PLACE IN THE GYM FOR THE WOD!
(out of the girls)

My time was 13:16!!!

Every night they post the results on our gym's facebook page and I've always wanted to score in the top five!

All my double under practice finally paid off!

Tomorrow, I will be EATING SUGAR & FLOUR!

I am a little excited and ALLOT scared!

Wish me luck!

J is for JUICING! W.I.A & CrossFit Strength Wod!

Have any of you ever tried the My Fitness Pal App!!??

I just downloaded it and I LOVE it!!!

I think most people use it to count calories, but I have been using it to keep track of how much protein/carbs/fats I'm eating!

Apparently my first few weeks of the 30 day paleo challenge, I wasn't getting enough carbs (your body needs them for energy, especially for crossfitters)

So now I am closely monitoring my intake! I have to say its FUN!

Photo Diet:

For Breakfast I juiced all of this madness (I'm going to start adding more veggies in)
1 cucumber, watermelon chunks, 1 orange, 1 pineapple spear, 4 strawberries & some grapefruit chunks!

Lunch: 1/2 a Sweet Potato (see, getting those good carbs in!) & a Chopped Spinach Salad w/ 1 chicken breast, a dallop of hummus, & chopped almonds

Then I snacked on some homemade Apple Chips

Dinner: Pork & Bacon Stir Fry with Carrots & Brocolli!

Last but not least, My Fitness Pal Results for the Day!

I always eat a little over the calories it calculates for me to lose weight, but it's always fun to finish logging your calories for the day and see a message like this!

My protein, fat and carb breakdown for the day!!

I did really well!

My goal is to eat about 40-70 grams of good carbs a day (wheat and gluten free)

The protein and fat are pretty spot on, although I would like to bring the fat down just a bit!

Do you use fitness apps to keep on track?

The wod that was programmed for us today was the SAME as last Monday,

except unlike this picture, we did 5 sets of 5 reps this week!!

I did pretty well!

Scores:
115 lbs on my back squat
65 lb press
165 lb deadlift

My numbers are slowlllllllyyy crawling up there!
